Attending a Zoom Meeting or Webinar
How to use the Wordly translations and captions shared with you by your Zoom host
Any Zoom meeting participant can be invited to join an ongoing Wordly translation session for that meeting.
Only the Zoom host who scheduled the meeting can start the Wordly translation session.
Prerequisites
- It is highly recommended that you enable Original Sound in your Zoom preferences for the absolute best translation experience (see 'Maximizing Zoom Sound').
- You cannot be in a Zoom breakout room (see the FAQ)
You can join Wordly through:
Joining a Wordly Session
Zoom allows others to send you an invitation to use Wordly translations and captions during a Zoom meeting or webinar.
You don't need a Wordly account or to download the Wordly app to see translations and captions started by your host.
To join by the Wordly app
- Join your Zoom meeting or webinar.
- You receive a notification that your meeting host sends you an invitation to the Wordly app.
- Accept the invitation to open the Wordly App for Zoom.
- (Optional) If the translation language isn't the one you want to view the translation into, click the Translate To dropdown menu in the Wordly App for Zoom window. Select your preferred translation language.
To join by a browser
- Join your Zoom meeting or webinar.
- After a Wordly session starts and live streaming begins, a streaming menu in Zoom displays.
- Click the dropdown menu next to LIVE and select Wordly.
- The Wordly session opens in a web browser. Select the translation language you prefer.
Rejoining a Session
In rare circumstances, you may be inadvertently disconnected from an ongoing Wordly session and taken back to the session lobby.
You can rejoin the ongoing session by clicking the Join button.
