Hosting Your Wordly Session
Learn how to start and run your Wordly session
- From the Wordly dashboard, click the Sessions menu and select your desired session.
- Click the Meeting Shortcuts menu below the Attendee Shortcuts.
- Click the first URL under Meeting Shortcuts.
Note: Anyone using a Meeting Shortcut link starts the Wordly session. It doesn’t have to start in the Wordly Portal. - In the Wordly window, enter the name of the presenter. Note: Multiple speakers enter their own name as they join the session. This lets Wordly identify who is speaking.
- Under More options, select how to join with audio. You can join:
With microphone on - Session starts with your computer sending audio to Wordly immediately. To save minutes, you should only use this setting if you are ready to use Wordly as soon as the session starts.
With microphone muted - Session starts with the audio not being sent to Wordly. To send the audio to Wordly, click the microphone button ().
Using push-to-talk - Speakers must unmute themselves by holding down the microphone button while speaking. Speakers can hold down the microphone button with the Space key. When the session starts, the microphone is off. - Click Join.
- Verify that your computer is using the correct audio input device in Settings. From the three-dot menu in the upper right of Wordly, click Settings.
- Select your audio device (microphone/headset) from the dropdown menu and click OK.
- In the Language Controls window, select the language that you'll be presenting in.
- (Optional) If you have speakers in multiple languages, slide the toggle to enable Automatic language selection (ALS). When enabled, ALS automatically selects a listed language if spoken.
Example: You've added French, German, and English as languages in the Language Controls window. Your first speaker is German and the second speaker is French. When your session starts with ALS enabled, it detects that the first speaker speaks in German, and switches automatically to French with the second speaker. For more information, read Automatic Language Selection. - Present your content using our Best Practices for Wordly Sessions.
- If at any point during your session you want to stop captioning your audio, click on the mute (
) to pause your captions and translations. Your minutes are not being deducted during this time,
- End the session after the speakers are done.
In the caption window, you'll always see captions in the input language you have selected. If you wish to view a translation, join the session as an attendee.
