Setting Up Custom Fields
How to create and use custom fields for your session
You can add custom fields to sessions. Custom fields can be used to help you understand where your minutes are being used when bulk exporting your usage data.
Example: You have multiple conferences that you run and you want to view how many minutes are used per conference. You can add a custom field named Conference. In a session, you can enter the name of the conference in the field. This lets you search for a particular conference in your usage data.
For organizations, only the Org Admin can set up custom fields.
To set up custom fields
- From the Wordly portal, click "Custom Fields" from the left side menu.
- Click "+Add Custom Field."
- In the "Add Custom Field" window, enter the name of the field you want to display.
- (Optional) Click "Is required?" to make sure that users don't leave a necessary field blank.
-
(Optional) Select the field type for the custom field:
- Text: Lets user enter any alphanumeric characters.
- Numeric: Lets user enter a number. You can enter negative values as well as positive values.
- Single choice: Lets user select a choice from a dropdown menu. Enter one value per line in the "Possible values" field. You can copy and paste the values from your own list.
- Multi-select: Lets user select one or more choices from a list of options. Enter one value per line in the "Possible values" field. You can copy and paste the values from your own list.
- (Optional) Enter a value that you want to pre-populate in the field.
- Click "Add Custom Field."
These newly created fields are now available for sessions that you create in the portal, but not for sessions that were created before adding the fields.
Editing Custom Fields
You can edit a custom field after it's been created.
You can't change the field's type. In order to change the field's type, you must delete the custom field and create a new one.
To edit a custom field
- From the Wordly portal, click "Custom Fields" from the left side menu.
- Select the field you want to edit and click. The "Edit Custom Field" window opens at the right of "Custom Fields."
- Change the values that you want.
- (Optional) Click "Delete" to delete the custom field.
- Click "Save."
Edits to fields will appear in new sessions you create. Previously created sessions will get updated labels but will continue to show the original values of those custom fields.
