Wordly Silent Theater is a paid add-on that lets attendees hear the speaker's live voice through their headphones, alongside any text-to-speech translations. This feature is ideal for loud environments such as a trade show booth or a conference with multiple open-stage presentations running simultaneously.
Example: You are presenting in English to a group of 30 attendees that are interested in your services. There is a mix of international attendees wearing headphones, including Japanese, Portuguese, and English speakers. The Japanese and Portuguese speakers will hear a virtual voice translating your words into their respective languages. However, the English speakers will hear your voice coming through their headphones.
Prerequisites
- Silent Theater enabled in your portal. Because Silent Theater is a paid add-on, Wordly must activate it in your portal before you can use it. To request access, contact Wordly sales.
- A minimum of 10 Mbps internet bandwidth (for both presenters and attendees).
To set up Silent Theater
- Create a new session or edit an existing session.
- Check the Silent Theater checkbox. Note: If you don't have Silent Theater enabled in your portal, the Silent Theater checkbox will be greyed out and you won't be able to select it.
- Click "Save."

Once the session is saved and configured, you are ready to invite attendees.
Distribute the attendee link to your attendees.To use Silent Theater (for attendees)
- Join the session as an attendee.
- Click the speaker icon (
) and make sure that the speaker is turned on.
By default, attendees will hear the speaker's live voice when the speaker is presenting in the attendee's own language. If an attendee prefers to hear the virtual translated voice instead, they can update this preference in their session settings.
To change to a virtual voice

Within the session, click the 3 horizontal lines and select Settings (

Select the "Play a virtual voice when the speaker is speaking my own language" checkbox.
