About the Block List in Glossaries
How a Block list removes inappropriate words
A Block list is a list of words that a speaker might say that are not appropriate for, or wanted, in the meeting space. Adding a word to the Block list removes the word from the translation and transcription, and ensures it never appears on screen.
You add Block terms to the glossary under the Block tab in the Add Glossary window.
Consider the context in which your Block list will be used. For example, archeologists will need to use the word bone, while in other contexts, that might not be appropriate.
When adding terms to the Block list, make sure to enter different variations of the word(s) you want blocked. For nouns (such as objects), also add the plural of the word. For verbs, add all of the various tenses, such as past and future tense.
Example: You want to block the verb swim. In addition to swim, you'd enter: swims, swam, swum, and swimming.
In some cases, it may be preferable to replace an inappropriate word using the Replace list rather than blocking it. If an important product name is misheard as an inappropriate word, blocking the inappropriate word will result in a blank every time that product name is said, whereas replacing the inappropriate word with the product name will ensure that the product name appears correctly, regardless of what was heard by Wordly.
We've compiled a list of common terms to block for English, German, Canadian French, and Latin American Spanish. You can download the list and add these terms to your block list. This list may include terms that are not inappropriate in your context and should be curated accordingly.
